About Lauren
After 10 years building the personal brands of high-impact leaders & churches across the country under her branding firm Subdue28 Branding, Lauren transitioned full-time to the non profit space in 2020 and spent time ushering the transition of churches into the digital space during the height of the pandemic. Most notably, she was able to set her roots in central Virginia, at a church who’s brand foundation & creative springboard she had initially built from the ground up, assisting in its 2020 rank as the 12th fastest church in the country. Shortly after, she transitioned those skills to undergirding justice work under Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, II.
Lauren received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the number one public design program in the U.S. at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2016. With a love for design thinking married with operational, brand and communication strategy, she has helped strengthen & develop the communication infrastructure of leaders, organizations, businesses, and their creative teams across the country.
Currently she owns and operates The Eden Agency, a full service creative firm designed to tell stories that impact, uplift and bridge gaps for black and brown brands and consumers.
Most importantly, Lauren has a strong conviction to fight for underserved communities whose opportunities to subdue their life’s purpose are compromised by systemic oppression and interlocking injustices. It is her hope that her life’s work & service to humanity always lends to this fight, no matter the genre, thus creating space for God’s voice to be heard and heart to be reflected in all industries.
Fun Facts
I love the art of oral & written communication and teaching others how to wield it.
I’m a TEDx Speaker: I was invited to give a TEDTalk for TEDxVCU based on my design research project, called Mothers With Sons. Mothers With Sons was designed to cultivate empathy across cultural backgrounds through the commonality of motherhood & was a response to the death of Trayvon Martin and the epidemic of police brutality, namely amongst minority young men.
I’m a “retired” musician: I started classical playing the piano at age 6, eventually began playing by ear and was the minister of music at my granddad’s church for several years but I haven’t touched piano keys in close to a decade. I know…a shame lol However, my musical ear is still pretty sharp.
I’m a fine artist: I’ve been painting and drawing since I was a child and it eventually landed me in art school in the #1 U.S. public program for design, where I leaned into multi-disciplinary art and learned how to solve problems with design thinking. I still love painting and drawing as a hobby but have hopes to be in a gallery one day soon.
I love doing voice over work: Voiceover work is one of my side quests that I randomly get to do and enjoy. I’ve been able to do it for churches, universities and organizations, along with some of my clients. Most of the time I’m narrating a script I also wrote but have also done scripts written by others. (here’s one of my favorites)
One of my biggest dreams/goals in life is to raise a family & build infrastructure in Senegal (living dually between there and the U.S.) I feel most at home with myself & connected to God’s intent when I’m there.
